Learn to make your own messenger bag for laptop, projects, or as a purse in this advanced pattern class where you'll learn to grade (size up or down) your own customized bag. You’ll also learn how to apply hardware to a bag for an adjustable strap, adding closures and zippers, plus create and sew in pockets. Instructor will provide a basic messenger bag pattern and graph paper for drafting your designs if there are any changes you’d like to make.
1 ½ yards canvas weight fabric for the exterior
1 ½ yards quilting cotton
1 yard fusible fleece interlining
2 yards 1” wide handle webbing
Two 1” wide D-rings and One 1” wide belt slider (We suggest checking out the “Handbag Hardware” section on Etsy.com)
Two spools of matching all-purpose thread
Optional: standard zippers, snaps, buttons, velcro, leather scraps. Bring leather sewing machine needle with any leather.
2 evening session: March 9 and 16 from 2-5pm.
2 evening session: April 18 and May 2 from 6-9pm
Intermediate level or Basic Tote class experience.
